2023 PREDICTIONS

We’ve had quite a holiday season here on the farm, with two major ice storms, temperatures below 0, no internet for two weeks (due to the ice storm) and then to top it all off, the motherboard went out in my MacbookPro and I had to get a replacement and get the local computer repair shop to transfer all the data.  But here we are, new computer, rewired internet receivers, temperatures like April and 2023.  Happy New Year.

Lots of people make predictions for the new year and as I was reading some of these, I decided I’d take a different tack.  They say you have to imagine it before it happens, and write it down in order for it to happen, so I figured nothing ventured nothing gained, I might as well make my wish list predictions and maybe that will move the cosmos to reality.  Here you go…

1.  Vladimir Putin admits his Holy War against the debauched West is not the way to solve unrighteousness, has a change of heart, withdraws from Ukraine, and asks the world for forgiveness.

2.  Bayer realizes glyphosate (Roundup) is not good for the planet and takes it off the market.

3.  Monsanto shuts down all Genetic Modified Organism development, quits selling GMO seeds, and decides you can’t patent life, pulls all its seed patents and embraces the notion that owning life (slavery) is not beneficial to the planet.

4.  The new farm bill, always rancorous, so frustrates Congress that they decide to simply abolish the USDA.

5.  The government decides to step away from the drug wars and to show a renewed sense of personal responsibility,

6.  The government starts a systematic process to extricate itself entirely from the health care industry, admitting that your health is your responsibility.

7.  President Biden declares a “no factory food week” to mimic the “Great American Smoke-out” and help people understand they have alternatives to ingesting junk.

8.  The U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management commit to cutting, chipping, and composting the same acreage as wildfires burn, showing a commitment to resource stewardship rather than a waste mentality.

9.  President Biden signs a FOOD EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION allowing any citizen the right to purchase the food of their choice from the source of their choice as consenting adults in a mutually voluntary transaction, extending the right of private contract to food.

10.  Social media companies have a change of heart and decide to honor their special public utilities status and quit censoring anything . . . anything.  I’ll say it once more . . . anything.  If it’s too wild, people will stay away, or build filters.  The market rules.

Well, there are ten of mine.  How about yours?
