I DON'T WANT ANY MONEY

The stimulus plan, as it's known, is far too generic to be beneficial.  I've talked to numerous economist-type friends and none can tell me definitively what all this sudden money out of thin air will do.  Normally, that's a recipe for inflation.

But with a massive depression forecast, nobody is quite sure what such an inflationary policy will create.  We live in uncharted waters, that's for sure.

But here is what I know.  The government has no money other than what it either gets through taxes, license, and punishment (fines) or creates through the printing press (a broad phrase that encompasses any arbitrary government expansion of the money supply).  Of course, printing more money cheapens its value and erodes trust; it's an insidious and cultural-sucking erosion of wealth.

This is not to debate the stimulus package; right now I honestly don't know what I would do if I were president.  I don't envy that position.  But I do know that the stimulus should be as small as possible and should be as targeted as possible just to folks who really need it.

The coronavirus has been the best thing that ever happened to our farm business.  People want authentic food; many have come to us for the first time in their lives.  I've never seen such interest and patronage of local food.

To send me a $1,200 check is wrong.  All it does is complicate whatever economic fallout occurs from this disruption.  Folks who are profiting from this outbreak certainly don't need and should not get fabricated funny money that will further damage our country.

The other big group that should be excluded is all government employees.  I have not yet heard of a single government worker, local, state, or federal, that has been disemployed or is suffering a decreased paycheck.  Anybody who is still employed, whether public or private sector, doesn't deserve a stimulus check.

Whoever gets it should be in real difficulty, and if it were limited to those people, this money would go a lot further and be far less damaging.  For our elected officials to cheapen our money and act as if this blanket printing press hollowness has no damaging ramifications is irresponsible.  It does further injury.  Whatever help is out there should be carefully targeted and defined; otherwise it's injurious at a time when we don't need more injury.

             Do you deserve yours?
