The Rogue Food Conference started by John Moody and I in 2020 has developed into a real thing.  We’re holding two per year and the next one is in Dallas, Texas.  

                  We have members of Congress, farmers who have circumvented the system, and legal experts who help figure out how to circumvent bureaucracies.  These day-long events are like drinking out of a liberty firehose; you’ll never be the same because you’ll think optimistically about how to navigate, confront, and guerilla around the increasing regulatory meddling that makes it so difficult for small players to sell food to their neighbors.

                  Our mantra is “circumvention not compliance” and we’ve featured food churches, buying clubs, internet courses with free food content, Private Membership Associations and other innovative work-arounds. Just last week I enjoyed a day on Millsap Farm just outside Springfield, Missouri, which hosts a Thursday evening Pizza Club May-October.  Completely free of government intervention, the poor-boy set-up is as rustic as a gypsy camp but attracts 300 enthusiastic sold-out participants every single week.

                  How can they get by with such an egregious violation of health department rules?  Because it’s Pizza Club.  They’re not selling pizza; they’re giving it away to club members.  To the tune of more than $5,000 per week.
